Yeah, you read that right. You should make the credit card companies pay for your holiday spending! (You thought I meant something else?) Since they offer juicy incentives to get you to switch to their credit card, take advantage of these loss-leaders and use the money to pay for your gifts. Sure, technically it may take you a bit to actually get the check or gift cards in the mail, but a few hundred dollars can go a long way. Just remember to pay off your balances in full, or they win!
I chose one card from three of the major issuers – Chase, Citibank, and American Express, and you can get at least $100 from each one.

When a major Canadian bank kicks off the sector’s quarterly earnings-reporting season with considerably better-than-expected profits, you’d think that might put a charge in not only its own stock, but those of its peers. So when quite the opposite happened Tuesday after Bank of Montreal’s (BMO) consensus-beating numbers, you had to figure that something about those big numbers didn’t quite pass the sniff test.
After some initial enthusiasm, BMO’s stock ultimately fell 41 cents to $53.14 on the Toronto Stock Exchange Tuesday following release of its numbers, despite beating analysts’ profit and revenue estimates.

Somedays I feel like I am the only driver out there who still does not own a GPS for my car. When I purchased my new car this summer, I decided not to spent the extra thousands to have a built-in navigation system. I figured it would be better to instead spend just hundreds on a portable device. Then I started shopping for these things and quickly a simple purchase became oh-so-complicated! I had no idea these little devices came in so many flavors! Just narrowing my choice down to one maker (Garmin is my current pick) has not done as much as I hoped to narrow my field of choices.

The Associated Press article: Americans save more but earn less as rates fall provides a very vivid image of what low interest rates are doing for savers (like Grandma in the example) and spenders.
But the government’s policy of stimulating the economy by cutting rates to try to get people to borrow and spend is essentially robbing the elderly of a vital income stream, argued Greg McBride, senior financial analyst at Bankrate.com.
“It takes money out of the pockets of senior citizens and anyone living on a fixed income and gives it to borrowers, many of whom are overly indebted,” McBride said.
