The problem of credit card skimming is now the cause for international losses of over one billion dollars a year. This credit card scam is common in Latin America as well as Europe and Asia, and now it is starting to be seen in the United States.

When you try to purchase something in a store, it is easy to run this type of credit card scam when you give your card to a store employee to scan at the register. That employee may swipe your card for payment, but may additionaly swipe the card with a small machine they hold in their hand known as a skimmer, that also stores information from your card into its system.

It appears that, just as in the US, where “the big 4″ financial oligarchs now dominate and have become even “too bigger to fail” post crisis and make a farce of “8000 competitors”….

1.Bank of America (BAC) $2.3 Trillion 2.JPMorgan (JPM) $2.0 Trillion 3.Citigroup (C) $1.8 Trillion 4.Wells Fargo (WFC) $1.3 Trillion (There is no one else who is even close in commercial banking-Goldman does not count for this list).

….we have the same issue in Europe. As we await the next surge in the stock market (which tells us all is, of course, right in the world), these are not issues to worry about today….

Net Worth December 2009

It is always nice to end the year on an up note with my Net Worth. The stock markets have once again been kind and take most of the credit for advancing my balances this month. My saving/spending accounts inched forward from interest earned since once again I threw most of my excess monthly cash at my mortgage principal.

A couple of online survey checks arrived this month ($5.50 total) and I completed one online focus group for a $75.00 Amazon gift card. I sent off my Coinstar $10 free money rebate yesterday (promotion ends December 6 – this Sunday) and am looking forward to that Amazon eCertificate. Read more…
