Blockbuster was once the leader in the movie rentals business but with the fast growth of digital and mail order competitors, the business found itself filing for bankruptcy last September. In February Blockbuster had to put itself up for sale when reorganization failed.
Dish Network Corp won Blockbuster Inc in a bankruptcy auction for about $320 million, a move that could see the second-largest U.S. satellite TV provider tapping the movie rental chain’s online content to strengthen its offerings.
Dish, led by satellite billionaire Charlie Ergen, trumped at least three other bidders, including activist investor Carl Icahn, for the one-time leader in video rentals. Read more…

PROVIDENCE – Greenlee, a Rockford, Ill.-based subsidiary of Textron Inc., said it acquired a 51 percent stake in Shanghai Endura Tools Company Ltd. on March 30.
Shanghai-based Endura, established in 2004, is a hand tools provider for home centers, construction, industrial manufacturing and automotive channels, and employs about 140 people.
“The alliance also provides us with an opportunity to expand our presence in the Chinese tool market substantially, where we expect to increase sales significantly by leveraging Endura’s existing network and distribution structure of over 1,100 distributors,” said Scott Hall, president of the Textron Industrial Segment and Greenlee. This past weekend, I was casually glancing at my Google Analytics numbers when I noticed a statistic that surprised me. Almost 3 percent of our revenues last month came from customers making purchases on their mobile devices. While 3 percent doesn’t sound like a huge percentage, this is pretty shocking to me on several fronts.

TAUNTON, Mass. – The annual Taunton job fair has been canceled for the first time in 30 years due to a lack of interested employers, the Taunton Gazette reported.
The fair was scheduled for April 6 but only 10 of the tables were reserved by the deadline; the Taunton Employment Task Force said it needed 20-25 employers to run a “quality” job fair.
